Intense Pulsed Light Treatments <FAQ> <Back>

Pigmented Lesions and Sun Damage and Pigmented irregularities in your skin are the consequence of sun damage occurring over many years. UV light from the sun causes your melanocytes to produce pigment in an erratic manner leading to darker pockets of pigments. These can be clearly seen using ultra-violet light photography (Profect camera system). This pigment can be safely and greatly improved using the Prolite II, a light device with a sapphire crystal wave guide that specifically targets pigment in the skin. The light will harmlessly travel through your skin and selectively target these abnormal pigmented areas. The pigment thus targeted will darken in a few hours and then proceed to form very superficial scabs after about 7 to 10 days.

Do not pick. Alternatively, a microdermabrasion session may be performed at the time to gently exfoliate all traces of flaking or peeling. Each treatment will improve the general look of your skin. The treatment will also reduce any superficial redness you may have.

Vascular Lesions (flushing, angiomas, facial telangiectasias, rosacea)

Superficial redness is generally due to genetic predisposition but these symptoms become increasingly more visible with aging. This superficial redness can be safely and efficaciously be improved using the Prolite II. After treatment the vessels will take a darker, angrier look that may persist for 24 hours. They will then start to fade and will continue to do so for up to two weeks. Treatments are spaced at four week intervals. Each treatment will improve the general look of the skin.
